APRESENTAÇÃO: O estudo da arquitetura não deve limitar-se à iniciativa de projetar uma obra e sim abordar uma área transversal que a arquitetura tem como verdadeiro objetivo. Sendo assim, o que propomos é estudar as especificidades culturais, sociais e arquitetónicas do mundo que nos rodeia através duma reflexão sobre a sociedade envolvente, as suas constantes adaptações e as necessidades dos seus cidadãos, com recurso à tecnologia e aos novos materiais.
Neste contexto, procuramos compreender o papel da arquitetura quando aplicada a uma atividade de carácter efémero ou ocasional, tal como o circo, ou quando serve de pretexto para intervir na sociedade abrindo novos territórios de oportunidade. Não se pretende incidir o estudo apenas na maneira de fazer arquitetura. Partimos antes de exemplos de diferentes tipologias que se podem tocar e complementar originando novas formas de habitar e viver o meio urbano.
O trabalho aborda o nomadismo, pois a reflexão sobre o habitar nómada é pertinente para compreender o modo de habitar e construir a cidade. A perceção imediata relativamente a este tipo de arquitetura remete para a construção transitória, de baixa qualidade, associada a produtos industrializados, estandardizados e produzidos em série, indiferentes ao lugar onde se encontram implantados.

PRESENTATION: The study of architecture should not be limited to the act of designing a project. As such, we aim at exploring the cultural, social and architectural specificities of the world around us, through a reflection on the surrounding society, its constant adaptation and the needs of its citizens, using new technology and materials.
In this context, we aim to understand the role of architecture when applied to an activity of ephemeral or occasional character, such as the circus, or as a way to intervene in society by opening new opportunity areas. The study is not limited to way of doing architecture, but it draws on examples of typologies that can interact and complement each other, to explore new ways of living in an urban environment.
The thesis focuses on the nomadism, because the reflection on nomad housing is relevant to understand and provide insights on how to live and build the city. The immediate perception of this type of architecture refers to temporary construction of low quality associated with industrial products, standardized and serial-produced, often indifferent to the place where they are located.
